This is a 5 day course that prepares students to pass their
PMP® certification
exam. The course will also give students a solid grounding in the basics of
project management. The course uses classroom lectures, visual aids, examples,
test questions, and the interactive educational tool, AceIt© to
provide students with the knowledge they need to pass their exams. threeO
Project Solutions is a Registered Education Provider (R.E.P.) and this course
satisfies the PMI®’s requirement of 35 contact hours of training for
the exam.
Day
1:
- Project management context including:
definitions, project phases, project stakeholders, organizational types and
their impact on the project manager, and process groups.
- Project Integration including: the project
charter, the business case, scope statement, the statement of work, the project
plan, project plan execution, integrated change control, and closing the
project.
- An exercise requiring the class to group
together in teams of 4 or 5 students to read analyze a case study and propose
solutions which they will present to the class.
- Scope management including: scope planning,
scope definition, creating the Work Breakdown Structure (WBS), scope
verification, and scope control.
- Test questions to test students absorption of
the material presented.
Day 2:
- Time management including: activity definition,
activity sequencing, resource estimation, duration estimation, schedule
development, schedule control, critical path identification, and critical path
management (CPM).
- An exercise requiring the class to group
together in teams of 4 or 5 students to read analyze a case study and propose
solutions which they will present to the class.
- Quality management including: quality planning,
quality assurance, and quality control
- Test questions to test students absorption of
the material presented.
Day 3:
- Cost management including: cost estimating, cost
budgeting, cost control, the various cost control formulas, and Earned Value
Management (EVM).
- An exercise requiring the class to group
together in teams of 4 or 5 students to read analyze a case study and propose
solutions which they will present to the class.
- Human resource management including: human
resource planning, project team acquisition, team development, and team
management
- Test questions to test students absorption of
the material presented.
Day 4:
- Communications management including:
communications planning, information distribution, managing stakeholders,
performance reporting, and conflict resolution.
- An exercise requiring the class to group
together in teams of 4 or 5 students to read analyze a case study and propose
solutions which they will present to the class.
- Procurement management including: plan purchases
and acquisitions, plan contracting, request seller responses, select sellers, contract
administration, contract closure, and identification of the various contract
types.
- Test questions to test students absorption of
the material presented.
Day 5:
- Risk management including: risk management planning,
risk identification, qualitative risk analysis, quantitative risk analysis,
risk response planning, and risk monitoring and control.
- Test questions to test students absorption of
the material presented.
- An exercise requiring the class to group
together in teams of 4 or 5 students to read analyze a case study and propose
solutions which they will present to the class.
- Tips and tricks for passing the the PMP® exam.
